Crypto Bounce: XRP Leads as Fed Meeting Looms June 17

Bitcoin reclaims $62K and XRP leads the rebound on the smallest drawdown. Why the June 17 FOMC decides whether the crypto bounce holds or fades.

Crypto Bounce: XRP Leads as Fed Meeting Looms June 17

A relief bid after the brutal week

Crypto found a floor over the weekend and turned. Bitcoin trades back near $62,870 (+2.3% on the day) after defending $61,500 overnight. Ether rips 5.5% to $1,677, XRP adds 2.6% to $1.14, and Solana climbs 3.2% to $65.70. Total market cap is clawing back from $2.25 trillion, down from $2.53 trillion a week earlier.

The drawdown was part self-inflicted, part macro. Strategy sold bitcoin for the first time in nearly four years, US spot ETFs sit in their longest-ever outflow streak, and $1.76 billion of leveraged positions were liquidated in 24 hours. Fresh US strikes on Iran rattled an already-fragile ceasefire on top of it.

Why XRP is out front

The rebound is a rotation, not a tide that lifts everything equally. XRP carries the smallest 30-day drawdown among the majors, the most active institutional bid, and its own regulatory catalyst in the CLARITY Act. If you're hunting the first mover off the lows, you look at XRP before bitcoin. Solana and ether are tagging along — riding broad risk-on more than any standalone story.

The real test is still ahead

The question isn't the bounce; it's whether it holds. Markets price a 62% probability of zero rate cuts in 2026 heading into the June 17–18 FOMC. As long as yields stay firm and the dollar holds a bid, every crypto rally is a relief move inside a downtrend — not a regime change.

For traders, that means the counter-trend bid is real and tradeable, but keep it on a short leash. A break back under $61,500 on bitcoin kills the bounce thesis; a close above last week's range confirms it. XRP stays the relative-strength trade until the Fed sets the next direction on June 17.
